Poster 1, ‘Windows and mirrors’, references the first section of the essay and a quote from writer and artist Nilah Magruder. This quote, written across a simplified graphic representation of Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel costume, embodies Marvel’s changing mindset – from presenting the world outside the window, to now showing a reflection of its readers in their large cast of characters.

Poster 2, ‘Anyone can wear the mask’, is a quote from the movie, ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ and illustrates the idea that every reader can BE Spider-Man. This form of how comics connect with their audience is a key argument discussed in the essay.

For poster 3, I chose to spoof the Toyota advert and its slogan ‘We’re here for you.’ Using the Batmobile with this text references the many copies of the advert by companies who in truth had no real support to offer. By contrast, Batman is always watching over his city, ready to provide practical assistance, as comics can do for their readers.
